EGL certifications on Diamonds?
I just found out that EGL Certs on Diamonds could be way off from what they really are? Is that true? I had a horrible experience having to deal w/my insurance company to replace my lost wedding ring/band :-( What a nightmare...FYI, you don't get the appraised value, what a rip-off, fought w/them for weeks to get closer to my value from 10 years ago! I never learned about Diamonds, that was my husbands job...and he did a GREAT job! I have recently learned about cut being #1 most important, etc...but secondly that the cert should be GIA or IGI because for example your color on EGL may say it's a G or H but it could be more like an I or a J. The reason I'm asking is that I LOVE this ring I found. Different, unique and everything I'm looking for (like my last ring) but it's EGL certified. I'm not paying for a ring that is different than what the cert says. Is there anyway to get around this?
